Head gasket/timing chain

I have '06 mini base model. Need to replace head gasket. ( Actually need to replace a few burned valves due to heavy carbon build up ). Besides gasket set, new head bolts and new camshaft sprocket bolt, is there anything else I will need? Also, how do I re-time cam and timing chain when putting back together? Any advise or suggestions would be great. ANy only have any idea how long a job this is?

BUY a service manual it will give you the needed specifics on torque/ alignment ect
It's far too involved to post all needed info here.

We did one in a weekend ,

head gasket/timing chain

Thanks for the advise. Just ordered a Haynes guide I'm sure it will be well worth the $25 investiment. I saw photos on line where some one
removed timing chain sprocket and kept tension on it upward with head off to avoid having to re-time. Any one able to do this successfully, any
ideas of how to get head off while keeping it pulled up ward would be great

I've seen guys look it down on the inside of the head one guy made a rig that bolted to the valve cover holes and came out and engaged the sproket

^^^ What's the noise sound like? Where and when does it make noise? I have one making a strange noise under acceleration. Doesn't happen 100% of the time but it has me concerned.
