low, low mileage 2002 Cooper S value?
Hello, new to forum and looking for pricing advice on a 2002 Mini Cooper S. The car has 4400 original miles (you read that correctly). Was purchased originally by well known local enthusiast who drove it for 600 miles and parked it before selling to a friend in 2013. Local Mini dealer has given it a full service including all fluids, hoses, tires, etc. I drove it today and it is tight as a drum. Other than one small paint chip and slight curb rash on two wheels, it is essentially a new car.
Owner wants $12K. Fair price?

You are right, it is like a new car and $12,000.00 would be a good price. However, like any new car, as you drive it the mileage will go up and the resale value will go down.
I bought a 2005 R52 S with 3,648 original miles and my insurance company would only insure it for an agreed value of $9,000.00. If I DON'T drive it, it will hold it's value...but what fun is that?

Holy cow! Those are some incredibly low miles. Time is just as detrimental on a car as mileage. That's why most service intervals are x amount of miles or x amount of years. I'd just make sure everything looks good and glad to see all the fluids, hose and tires have been taken care of. KBB prices that R53 with that mileage in excellent condition at only being worth $6,600. To compare pricing points, I've never seen one that low before and not sure if there are many ones out there with that low of mileage. You can, however, see if you can try and find a comparison on truecar.com. Otherwise, you may want to use KBB as a source to see if you can get a lower price from the seller.
