You need an actuator

I seem to have a working solution to the problem of the Bowden cable popping out of the latch assembly. I made a "U" bracket from 1/16" aluminum about 3/4" wide. One leg is about 1 1/4" inches long and the other leg is about 1" long. The bracket inside width is about 1 1/8". This bracket can be slipped over the top of the latch assembly (and over the Bowden cable tip) to prevent it from popping out. Long leg goes between the door skin and the latch assembly. The fit needs to be tight enough to keep it in place but not so tight as to cause binding (which happened to me the first time). I has been working for over a month now and I will be doing the same for the passenger door. I can get some photos and actual dimension when I fix the passenger door if you are interested (and assuming you are having the same problem).
