Mini Issue (Clutch/Tranny)

Mini Issue (Clutch/Tranny)
My girlfriend drives a base model 04 Mini Cooper. She was driving up a hill into my neighborhood when she shifted into 2nd gear it was almost like the car was under revving, so she downshifted back into 1st and the car seized and stalled.
Motor runs and idles fine.
No CEL
No terrible grinding or slipping noises
no fluid leaks.
So my guess is internal.
I'm thinking linkage, pressure plate, something along these lines.
The car's gears are in line and will go into each gear, but its like the gears aren't engaging.
I've had multiple car buddies take a look and we all come to the same conclusion, but none of us drive/own/have owned a mini. So I figured I would search the forums a bit and see what I could find. Any insight would be great and if anyone has had a similar problem please let me know what the end result was and if you don't mind, kind of what price range I'm looking at. Also, any mini specialty parts sites would be very helpful.
Thanks ahead for any replies!

I've been experiencing the same problem, it's like it's you're reving and the gears don't catch or something. Usually happens to me in the second and third gears. It'll go up a couple thousand rpm, then drop down and finally catch... as if I were holding the clutch in the whole time or something... I'd like to see what someone says about this.
