My girlfriends 2005 Mini is making a strange whirling and scraping sound from the engine compartment area and I can't figure out what it is. The car is an automatic with about 60k miles on it. The sound doesnt get any louder when you give it gas, it's a constant noise. It makes it in gear and in neutral. Anyone have any idea of what it may be? thanks!

 

Check the power steering pump fan ... might have something in it
