Default MPG's

Hi all:

We just bought a 2005 MINI and, although we love the vehicle, we are kind of disappointed with the mileage. The reports were that it would get around 33 mpg on the highway and we are only averaging 24-26. We are not driving the wheels off the car, speed limits and just taking it easy to get the most out of her. Is there something we can do to increase the mileage?

Thanks, Ric

Well that's the thing, we just bought it, and it was told to us that all the fluids were changed, the air filter looked good and the fluids looked OK. But would this really have that big of an effect in the mileage? Just wondering. The MINI has just over 38,000 miles on her.

We are going to take it in soon.

Thanks

I've got 50k on my 05 mini s and I'm getting 28/30 mpg on it.

The air filter can definately cause the lose in miles
Also have you checked the simple things air pressure in tires ect ???

I've got 28,000 miles on mine. My wife and I went for a 3 1/2 hour drive yesterday in mountainous terrain with winding roads and got 38 mpg average. Just because you were told by the seller the work had been doesn't mean it was actually done. I think you should invest in a thorough check and tune up at a trusted shop if you cannot do it yourself.

Default MPG's in Winter

MPG's always drop in the winter...I think there are a couple of reasons but the biggest would be the Crappy winter gas and the additives in it. I've watched the MPG's drop every winter only for them to return in the spring on all my past cars and trucks . As far as the Mini goes I assume it's the same. I just got My 2002 MC on Monday.

Default Just bought mine...

It is an 05, mostly highway,,,,, 36 mpg...(yes I did reset) God I love this thing!!! Going to pay for itself and reward with endless smiles... My Rubicon is parked! Maybe for a long time. Well, that provides it's own smiles.... So probably not, but no more 120 mile commutes!

Default New guy chiming in...

I may be late to this game but have been lurking for some time. I just got me a beuty of an 05 R50 and had all the maint. done prior to purchase at 71k miles... this is to be a "fun" commuter and does 130 miles a day. I reset the ecu the first day and I recieve... are you ready.... 34.7 per gallon. These are 74 MPH cruise gallons. I love my mini... 'And I drive it more and more... My Rubicon is parked for a while I guess...

I came from a range rover sport S/C ... 8/10 mpg highway and a 30 gallon premium only tank when gas was around $4 = a very pricey fill up
