Default Power Steering

Hi guys

Few months back when I bought my Mini I was told that the power steering was replaced with a new one. To ensure that, they gave me the old power steering. Yesterday my car was at the mechanic changing the ball joint. When I came to pick the car the mecanic told me, that I should replace my Power steering, and to my surprise I told him that it was replaced few months ago. He believes that my steering is a bit hard, and when you turning the car on the steering wheel is hard as a rock and after 5-10 sec it then works perfect again. When you turn on the car, you can hear the power steering running slowly up and after it get it´s full throttle (5-10 sec) the power steering works fine.

I have changed the servo oil to CHF11s and it made the power steering a bit more smooth but still have´t fixed the start up.

Is my Power steering dead or is it just how a electric power steering works ? :-)
