Howdy forum, brand new and buying a 2002 Cooper S off my buddy. I'm going to take it over to a trusted shop I've worked with for years but, as they specialize in BMWs, I figured it wouldn't hurt to give them any guidance on where or what to look for.

Any suggestions I could get from the forum? Common mechanical failures or "big no no's"? I haven't inked the title paperwork so want to make sure I at least do a little homework before committing fully and insuring the car.
