R50 to R50 S swap

Hello ,

So long story short , my mother blew the engine on her Mini Cooper R50 .I was looking for a FWD car as a new project so decided to take the chance with her car since it was free.

I'm not looking to go crazy on it , since wifey will drive it ( My E46 330CI seems to be too much for her ) so i want to put an MCS R50 engine in it as a base .

Would it be plug n play since the donor engine will be from a MCS R50 , just like the M54 engine on the E46 BMW ?

Any information or documentation will help me alot .

Kind regards,
Gabriel

If you mean Mini Cooper S then you are putting an R53 engine in your R50. Which will only work well if you convert your R50 to an R53. A big project. Why? You ask? The R50 engine has a 10.5 to 1 compression ratio to get 115 hp. The R53 engine has an 8.5 to 1 ratio to allow for supercharging and 165 hp. If you use that engine, without the supercharger, You will be lucky to see 75 hp. Converting an R50 to R53 is likely to cost More than if you went out and bought a used R53. Even if your state air resources board will allow it.
