Default Service Discontinued

I'm so upset & angry I can barely type this out. I have a 2002 R50. It runs great but stuff is starting to go wrong. My self-adjusting Xenon headlights quit self adjusting. If you look at them while on, they look like half circles & only light up the road perhaps 4 or 5 feet in front of the car. Plus, my horn quit working. So. I take it to Mini of the Woodlands here in Texas. They charge $185 to diagnose the headlights, and another $185 to diagnose the horn. They tell me there's a recall on the steering. I wait 3 hrs.

The lady I'm dealing with is a sweetheart. She has the unfortunate job of explaining to me that my car is too old, and they don't service it. Since theres a recall, they have to- but...the "mechanic" (NOT) explains that their software can't talk to my car and to find anything, they have to trace wires *gasp!* by hand. He also tells me my headlights dont move. I tell him I've been driving this car for 21 years. They move (self adjust). So he then decides Xenons are software driven & they don't have the means to deal with it. Ditto for the horn.

I dont know what to do, or where to start. Can anyone give me a clue on finding some way of getting this issue fixed? I'm a 66 yr old lady on very fixed income. I saved up what I thought might cover this, but there's no way I can get a new car. This was to be my last car. I had no idea MINI would just dump me.

Thank you.
