Trunk latch won't open
 

My trunk latch now stays locked, although the doors are unlocked. I've fiddled with the console switch that locks/unlocks things to no avail. I replaced my battery about 6 months ago, and I checked the F37 fuse regarding door locks. Any ideas before I bend over for the dealer?

Wanted to get back to you to share that my trunk problem was a part of a larger problem having to do with a short circuit that was going on - every time I tried to open my trunk and squeezed the latch, my rear top brake light would flash; after turning off my car, the panel lights would come on and beep as if my key was left in the ignition, although it wasn't...Anyway, I used the manual trunk latch under the rear seat, went into the trunk, opened the panel to the rear light that I thought was out (but wasn't) and saw that the bolt securing the electrical ground bar to the wall of the panel had loosened and the car had became ungrounded. A quick tightening of the bolt grounded my car again, and the trunk opens, the light and turn signal work again, and all is good.

Just an FYI there is a manual pull cord under the rear seat

...in the current snowstorm. After fiddling with it for about 20 minutes in the snow, I tried fiddling with the open button on my keyfob. I heard it release - THAT was stuck rather than the actual latch. So then I was able to slam it locked. Sounds obvious but might help someone in a bind.

depends of how old is the car, you have to forced to open, is a`common problem with that model

My boot also wouldn't open and after reading several different theories on several different forums about water in switches, locks, lights and boots unlocking when turning lights on and off etc., I thought I'd better add to the list,what I later found to be my problem.
After pulling all of the above, apart unnecessarily, I found it to be broken wires inside the flexible rubber sheathing where the wires pass from the boot lid to the body. I cut out and soldered new wires in their place and it now works fine.
