03 cooper s

hello, just bought an 03 mini cooper s. has a full bmw service
history, 47 thousand miles, on clock. what kind of things should
i be looking out for going wrong? is there a cam belt ? any tips would

Enjoy

Congrats on the 03 MINI S! Don't worry about things going wrong. They're pretty solid little cars.

Do however, and I can't stress this enough, use only the correct fluids in it. You can't top up the power steering fluid with just any power steering fluid, and you can't use just any gear oil.

Happy motoring

Timing chain

The MINI cooper uses a timing chain....not a belt.

change timing chain?

I thought the idea of a timing chain as opposed to a belt was so that it didn't require changing?

Chains are traditionally noisier, so that is why many manufacturers go belt....because it's quieter.....and, of course, to have you spend a wad of cash to have it done.
