2002 cooper overheating
my 2002 mini cooper s has begun overheating in the past few months. my mechanic can't find any leaks in the coolant but when I get it back within a week I have the same problem- it overheats and sometimes makes a banging noise that feels like it is coming from by the driver side of the engine. Has anyone experienced this problem, I am very worried and my mechanic seems clueless. help!

is it loosing coolant ?
What has been done by the mechanic ? What has been replaced ? |
cooling problem
any leaks? if not is your fan cycling on when it is supposed to, i believe it activates the low setting at about 205 degrees F, and the high setting at 220 degrees F.
if the above are ok, is your coolant low? if so check to see if you have water in your oil pan. After letting the car sit overnight, Just barely break loose the oil pan bolt and if water comes out you have a serious problem, could be blown head gasket, could be cracked block |
I think u need a good mechanic.
