Electrical gremlins
 

My '04 S has had an electrical gremlin that has suddenly become a monster. Neither temperature or weather dependent, every few months I'll flip the ignition and the climate control display doesn't light up, (or function at all) simply shutting down and rebooting always fixed it.

Now, in addition to the climate control playing dead, none of the gauges work at all, and the directional indicator is stuck on, even with the key out. Rebooting doesn't help, in-fact, once the speedometer gauge pegged to 150 and stayed there, until I cycled the key again.

Is there a common factor amongst these controls and gauges?

It is 91 F and very humid.

On my 04 S, I've had the traction control light come on indicating the traction control is off occasionally upon starting and not shut off by the switch, but restarting the car would put the light out and make the switch operative. I had inquired with the dealer service manager during warranty about this who said there was no chance figuring it out as long as the system reboots. Not a very satisfying answer but indeed there have been no ill effects.

This is kind of a minor issue compared to some of the real problems I have had in less than 45000 miles.

Check every fuse for oxidation.

I fixed a number of flakey problems, including the one I posted here, simply by cleaning the fuse contacts.

Just cleaned fuses?
 

I know this is an old post, but I just bought an R50 and having the exact same problem. You simply cleaned the fuses and that resolved the issue for you?

I’ll have to give it s shot when I get home. Hopefully this rectifies my issue as well!
