Enigine mods questions
Hey all, im pretty new to Minis so i had a few questions on the strength of the motor. I have a friend with a Ford Lightning and i know that one of their worrys is overboosting the engine with certain pulley, chip, ect... mods without strengthing the bottom end. I know they are putting up bigger numbers but i was wondering if the Minis had the same issues and to what extent of mod can you go before concerns are reached? thanks-ryan

RE: Enigine mods questions
The Cooper S engine is built like a tank. You can mod to around 300+ whp before you'll start to run into problems. Of course you'll need to upgrade things like injectors and software before you can get that high.
The only way you'll get that high is to take off the supercharger and get a big turbo though. You can pretty much do whatever you want with the pulley and other things. Overdriving the supercharger anmore that 15% isn't highly recomended though because it makes the little M45 supercharger very inefficient and the gains get smaller the higer you go. Also, rememer the water pump is driven off the supercharger shaft so the faster it spins, the faster your water pump spins. Hope that helps with your questions, anything else you want to know just post up. Welcome aboard.:) |

Anyone have any luck with Denso plugs? Ive heard that colder plugs help with efficiency. What temp should i be getting? Also any exhaust suggestions?
