headlight/taillight failure

While motoring around the Puget Sound region I've noticed a great number of vehicles on the road with only one working headlight. Only a few MINIs with this condition, though. Now I'm wondering: are my damned expensive Xenon headlights in danger of getting shorted out by all the rain we get up here? My 2006 MINI S lives in a covered garage, but was outside all last year. Anything preventative I could do to keep my lights working?

The HID bulbs do have great reliability , as long as you see no fogging inside the headlight the rain will not effect them and they are sealed well ...Also if you shop the bulbs are not that bad I went with some "blue bulbs" with a higher color temp and they were like $70 a pair ... plus I still have the stock bulbs to go back to

The best thing that you can do to protect your lights, is to ensure that the rubber protective boots, are secured properly. This will keep water from getting into the back of your light housing. If have seen the xenon repalcement bulbs the D2R for $85, that is allot less then what the dealer is asking. if you need to buya replacement.
