HELP Already

Yesterday as i was driving home, I was cruising at about 110-115 MPH..... not really pushing it to hard and all of a sudden the Service Engine Light starts flashing, the DSC light starts flashing as does the windshield wiper light. The engine brake engages and I lose power......I pulled over at a rest stop and called and chewed out the BMW dealership i just bought the car from. I open the hood and it smells like burnt rubber/plastic but all of the belts are good. I start the car back up and it runs..seems... normal except the Service Engine light stays on. I drive 40 miles to the dealership and they take it in and give me a loaner...a slow ass BMW 118i. They tell me there is something wrong with the engine diagnostics something or other. Has anyone else had this problem??? I am a bit pissed as I just had the car for a week.

Just because you can.... doesn't mean you should!

Glad you got your problem fixed, Toolfan. That wonderful computer is one of my least favorite items on the Mini.

I live in Germany, If I don't run that fast on the autobahn.... I get run off the road. High speed motorways brother. I do love 'em. I have found out though that the Cooper S brakes are really not sufficient for high speeds.... time for the BIG brake up grade.

As far as the computer goes, BMW said they erased the software and re loaded it with new up dated software so they say I should not have any more issues. I am a bit weary though..... I bought a 530i BMW in 2004 ( the first new model year) and I ended up selling the car because I had so many computer issues. I had it in the shop 16 times the first year I owned. I took a 13 k loss when i sold it so I am truly hoping that history does not repeat itself with this car.

Living in Germany does explain a lot. Having been on the autobahn, I understand. You are usually safest traveling at a speed near what everyone else is running.

It also says something if BMWs have crappy computer in them too. I can't sayI have ever had a problem with my computer, nor am I against the idea of a computer controlling something. I just dont like having a devicethat only the dealer can touch control so much of the car. Most cars are moving that way, but Mini is seem to be considerably further that way than most.
