Default Ignition coil install...

Anybody ever overtighten the bolts on the ignition coil. I heard a crack when I was tightening the left rear bolt. What should I do? Doesn't seem to be leaking oil or anything but still worried about it.

I believe they are just mounting tabs you broke you can epoxy them

This is an old post but maybe someone has thought this coil bolt business out and has advice. I have read on other sites about the same issue.

I am getting a misfire code and decided to replace plugs, wires, and coil -- 2006 MCS conv. with 54k miles.

Problem is all the aftermarket coils will not accept the OE bolts. The OE bolts have a metal sleeve around them that acts as a stop when torquing down. This does two things -- prevents driving the bolts right through the valve cover (see above!) and allows the correct vibration isolation of the coil from the engine. Some advocate removing the sleeve from the bolts and reusing. Some coils come with new bolts. It seems to me that either way this is a problem. The two functions of the OE sleeve are now missing.

Has anyone drilled out the metal sleeves that come in the replacement coils? This makes the most sense to me, but I don't want to damage the replacement coil. Thanks for any observations and experience with this.
