Looking to buy a mini 02-06

hey everyone im lookin for a mini cooper type s. Ive heard alot of bad things about them such as; interior falling apart, maintenance problems at lower mileage, engine problems, reliability issues, timing issues. i would really appreciate the input from everyone esspecially those who have minis with over 90,000 miles. if im correct MCS use a timing chain which shouldnt have to be serviced like belts do. ive also heard the clutches wear out easily and the transmissions are always a problem. consumer reports even label the car as low quality. ive checked some car faxes on some of the cars and two that really caught my attention was a mini with 104,000 on it had like 5 things on the car fax and another mini had 50,000 and went into a dealership about 8 times for an "enigne check-up" also ive noticed people getting their rear rotors replaces at 18,000..really? input please.

thanks

Low Quality?

I would not label the Mini as a low quality car. My father has a 2005 S model with 24,000 miles that I have driven many times. He has had absolutely no problems. I compare driving a mini with riding a motorcycle, they are that much fun! The quality is top notch. Follow to manufacturer recommendations on maintenance and take good care of the mini and it will reward you with many years of enjoyment. There is not one time that I drove this car that I didn't get someone walking up to me asking about it, it always turns heads.

I own a 2004 r53. Rotors and pads al the way around once but that's it. Currently has 116000 miles. A few qwerks with the interior but no deal breakers. Most severe issue is the a/c socket likes to come out when removing a charger or something so you have to push it back down. I certainly wouldn't call it a low quality. There are more expensive cars with many more qwerks.
