Mini Over Revs when accelerating - PLEASE HELP
 

Hi,

I'm having a problem with my mini cooper, and it seems to be getting worse!!

It over revs when accelerating, usually only when harsh acceleration. It does this in all gears and starts at around 2/3k revs. It jumps to around 5k revs instantly then slowly comes back down... going up hills is a real struggle!

Before taking this into a garage i'd like to find out what the issue is first.

Sounds like the clutch is slipping/worn normally this is the higher gears

I've had this problem with several different cars. It has always been the clutch. Get ready for the bad news when you take it to the Mini Dealership.

I know this is a bit of a stab in the dark... but how much do you think it will cost for the clutch to be replaced?

Hey Arron, I know it's a few years on but what was the issues with your Mini in the end? Mine has just started doing this this morning, it's fine when I'm driving around town but it was when I joined the motorway and I accelerated to overtake that she really revved :(
