Are Mini's relyable??? Want S 6spd?/

I love my 328is but too many expensive quirks.. Is so fun to drive its almost worth it but my wallet is not big enough.. nor do I have the time and patience... So.. I was looking at Mini. Ive heard they are pretty good but after only a few minutes here I see same sort of scary problems....... tranny jumps out of gear at 67k miles? clutches gone? Engine misses??

What are the major issues to look for when buying? Seems like there are many with 50-70k miles for $11-13k which seems pretty good but what about expensive mant. or quality issues??

Are they worth it?

Maybe I should go to Toyota??

I'll have to say mine has been very reliable ... my 05 has only been in for regular maintenance (oil changes ect) ... With 50/60k miles the clutch may be marginal dependant on the driver/owner ... The manual is very solid the clutch is a "wear" part and replacement is normal , dealer replacement can be pricey but other shops can be far cheaper for that ...
The electrical power steering pump is another "failure" item , there are places that rebuild them and a diy swap makes it more reasonable...Also at 50/60k brakes should be checked as well ...

I have an 03 MCS, and it is a very reliable car. I purchased it for 17k with 22,000 miles on the odometer, this past June. I do have alot of mods though, so my lead foot isn't getting the best fuel mileage. But, I haven't run across many problems. If your looking at getting a Mini, try to find a one owner car, so that your aware of any issues with it, if any. And so that your aware of the service that has been done. Please do a carfax history report, also contact BMW/MINI and have them run the VIN in their computers to see any service bulletins/recalls, as well as check servicing that has been performed. Mini's like any other car, if well maintained they will last, but if not, then they will give you headaches with maintenance, and a empty wallet. By all means do your research before you buy. Ask the questions, check maintenance, carfax. Take and have it inspected by a shop. Don't be a impulse buyer, check it out first. And that is my two cents. And I bet your saying to yourself, he's right......
