Default My First Supercharger Engine

Hi fello mini fans,

I just bought a 2003 Mini Cooper S, and I love it.
It has 19K miles and still under warranty. It looks like my mini has all the package.

When I start the Cold Engine in the morning (outside temp is about 40F), the first try would not let it ignite and start. 2nd try has been always successful.

Is this normal to Mini Cooper S?

This is my first Mini and need some advise.

please help,

K

Yep the MCS has a cold-start issue during a season of the year. For most it's the summer, for mine it's the autumn, go figure, lol. Anyway, don't worry about it, just start it that 2nd time and you're off. A bit annoying, but not a real problem.

Cheers,
Ryan

My 04 does it ocasionally in the winter months. I've gotten in the habit of turning the key to the first position and waiting for the electric fuel pumps prime (you can hear when the buzzing stops). I then turn the key and away she goes.

That's actually what I've heard elsewhere too. My MA also told me that you're suppose to turn the key to 'ON' and let the computer run the diagnostic before starting it. You'll know when it's done because the 'EML' light goes off.
