Oil Dipstrick broke off

I have a 2003 Mini Cooper S 6 speed.

The oil dipstick broke off and I can't see the other end of it in the tube. I did a lot of google searches trying to find out how to get it. I tried tweezers but no luck. Tried a little grabbing tool....but I think I just pushed it down where I can't see it.

I want to remove the oil dipstick tube in hopes that it's not down too far and into the pan.

I ordered a service repair manual from a site but it's been 2 weeks and they're still saying it's "pending"

Can anyone here tell me how to remove the tube? I really want to try that before I pull the pan.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

have you tried a magnet ? see iff it sticks to the stub...

I didn't try that. I'll give it a shot.

If that doesn't work -- how do you remove the tube? Can anyone help with instructions?

No luck with the magnet.

How do you remove the oil dipstick tube? Anyone have a drawing or pics? Any help is appreciated!

Awesome. Thanks! I'll pull the car up on the ramps and try to remove it this weekend. I'll keep you posted.

I'm curious to know if you ever got the other piece of the dipstick out?
