Default Performance Air Filters

Quick Question, is it okay to replace the standard air filter and box with a K&N cone filter? Or do I have to have a custom made heat shield? Thanks

Use a K&N drop in for minor gains. Larger gains get the Cold air intake or the JCW intake

trying to use the cone without a sheild will lose performance
