Possibly new Mini owner

Hey everyone,

I have been looking for a new car for a while now and was really needing some advice from current mini owners. The car in question is at this link

I know mini's are meant for the twists and turns, however, coming from a mk5 GTI that has quite a bit of money in mods done to it (turbo back exhaust, evoms intake, lowered on H&R coils, APR stage 2 tune, brand hew hpfp, and some other goodies) how mod-able is the 2005 mini cooper with a JCW kit? Im speaking more power wise because I do plan on picking up a set of nice coils if I do end up getting the car. Also, how reliable do the R53's tend to be? I could really use some of your guys's help. Thanks

Hey there, welcome to the forum. I've got an 04 R53. I really like this little rocket. I've added a smaller pulley, full exhaust and an intake. Since doing those mods, this little thing can really pull. The car is light as well. As far as reliability, to me it's all about doing routine maintenance on time. My R53 has low miles so that does matter a lot. Hope this helps a bit.

thanks for the response teamslam :) Anyone else have any advice on modding a JCW 2005 mini? Is there much to do even if it has the JCW kit?
