Service engine soon, EML lite

2006 S model, 22,000 miles. 27 days out of warranty. When accelerating and reaching 4,000 RPM engine shuts down service engine soon lite displays and EML lite displays. Engine will get you off the road but will not rev pass 1200 RPM. After shutting down and restarting, engine will run but if you go to 4,000 RPM same result. After shutting down and restarting EML lite will extinguish but Service engine soon stays on. After several restarts Service Engine soon lite will extinguish but if you rev to 4,000 same result. Any help out there?

take it to Autozone/advanced auto parts and have the codes scanned , tat will give clues to whats
wrong ...

Being that close to warranty a good letter/call to mini might get you a goodwill extension , to cover it in warranty

RE: Service engine soon, EML lite

Just talked to service dept. and was pleasantly surprised to find out the warranty is for 48 months and 50,000 miles not the 36,000 that I thought it was for. Merry Christmas. Thanks for the info. I've made the appointment to bring the car into the dealership. I'll post the results when I get it back.

RE: Service engine soon, EML lite

Car was at the dealer less than 24 hrs. Dropped it off Christmas day and was called to say it was ready the next morning. Something that I found out that I thought is interesting is that the car has a LEMP mode. It'll get you off the road and home if home isn't far. The problem was a bad intake pressure sensor before compressor. The code that was found was 1688. It was explained that there was some debris on the sensor causing the problem. The dealership replaced the sensor and the car runs great. Hope this will help someone in the future.
