step by step for power steering pump removal? - HELP!
Hiya folks,
Okay, I am currently under the car perplexed at how to get this pump out.
-I've removed the fan (about 1 min worth of work - nice and simple)
-I pulled the bolt securing the pressure line and drained some of the fluid
-I loosened the nut at the base of the pump (securing a bracket that actually secures the pump)
NOW, there's something else I'm missing and I can't fit my fat fingers back there to feel what's left. I know I need to pull the intake line off, but Mini/BMW likes those crappy crimp one-time-use fasteners that make it a pain to remove. I figured by lowering the pump some I could get at it with some snips.
Nonetheless, something else seems to be securing it in the back (toward rear direction of the car)
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks,
-Chris

Hmmm...I found this post:

This guy says the whole subframe needs to come down in order to get to this pump??!! Unfortunately, I think this is the sad truth (ugh). Wish I had a lift.

Well, I can't say I agree with the subframe removal. I finally found those two bolts and was able to reach up behind with a socket extension to remove them withOUT removing the subframe.
I did however remove the torque stabalizing engine mount bolt and used a pry bar to **** the engine forward so I could get the pump to drop down.
Alas, it's out...off to the rebuilders.
