Default Supercharger Queries

I have recently bought a cooper s 03, now i don't know very much about superchargers, but can they burnout, or stop working and the engine carry on as normal, without picking up any engine faults, because the neck snapping acceleration i once had now seems to have gone on pull away and mid range gears, i did have some what i thought was steam coming from the scoop a few weeks ago and the performance does'nt seem to be the same.
Can anyone shead some light on what they think it could be as i dont know.
PLEASE HELP
thanks

there are rotary seals in the supercharger , over time they can leak and it can lose boost and acceleration...
There can also be leaks in the intercooler /piping

I'm thinking NO ... the steam might be a radiator leak radiator cap or something similar
