Your thought's.. 04 mini S

I am in the process of Buying a 04 Mini S. with 67k miles. Was going to rent a car and drive there and pick it up today. When the dealer emailed me and said that his mechanic was going over the car before delivery and said that 5th gear was kicking out and that there is a syncronizer issue with the gear box. He said that he made an appointment with a local reputable bmw/mini mechanic to fix the problem. before I purchased the car. So I started
searching the web for mini problems and transmission's. and from what ive read this a regular
problem. syncro and the clutch going out around this mile mark if not sooner. So I emailed the dealer and told him if they have to drop the tranny. they might as well replace the clutch
too. Sowhat do you guys think. Is this a good thing or a bad thing. I kind of like the idea.
of the almost for sure problems being fixed with this car before i get it. So I know what Im buying. The car seems to be very clean with one owner. clear carfax. what do you think?

here is the car:

I'd say it's a good idea to replace that while it's down ...Although a clutch replacement even from mini isn't that bad ...
I think I was quoted $200 labor + parts

I think that it's a great idea to replace the clutch disc, pressure plate and through out bearing while the tranny is apart.I have been quoted at$2000 to replace the entire clutch assembly. the parts aren't expensive depending on what type of clutch assembly that you want, but labor is the killer, you have to dissassemble the whole drivers side of the car, to replace the clutch. If they are willing to do that, by all means go ahead, then you won't have to worry about a clutch job, for years to come.
