imported as 1966 Austin but is an 82 BMW
 

Has anyone dealt with imported Mini's?
so My Late father in law has a Mini he bought from ClassicMinicoopers in Florida their website isn't working anymore of course, the Mini is Titled as a 1966 Austin Mini Cooper. I remember My FIL telling me its actually a BMW i think 1982. its Right hand drive and imported from Japan I think, as some of the stickers in the engine area have Japanese writing and the car is in Kilometers.
we have the title and registration showing as a 66 Austin.
I'm trying to get some kind of value and I'm looking in the Hagerty Ins. Valuation tool, as I have their insurance for my Porsche 911 (which was his also). the Vin # is only 12 numbers, so its not helping.
its in decent condition I just have to clean it up, change fluids and battery and try to start it. it shows 11881 kilometers on the speedo, but I'm going through his paperwork to see what he bought it at.

anyway, Whats the best way to start really figuring out what I have here???
