Ragtop

Just bought an 05 convertible and so far really like it. I got a deal on it, $4,800, because the top doesn't retract. It seems the cables are broken. Can the top be converted to manual operation and if so how?

Hello Habu,

I have never heard of someone converting a MINI convertible top to a manual and it would take allot of work and time / money to do so.

To fix the top and make full function, Its a little bit of a project, but can be done. Here are some of the usual problems and parts

For the top:

For early MINIs convertible in 2005 we commend changing the font gates also as there was a slight design change. You will need the install hardware also.

The motor sets in the back and you can check it to make sure its not broken first or striped out the cables or striped itself.

Check the motor , then the cables. Also does the top move at all, one side or the other when you press the top button.

Thanks
