Changes in Mini through the years
 

Where can I find info on the new Mini and what changed through the years?
I am about to buy one and want to be informed as to what years with what options would be the best choice for me.

I know so far that I want an "S" convertable, with a 6 spd but I can't seem to find any info on what was updated when. Not so much worried about the small stuff but some kind of cronalogical listing of what options were available on what years has to be out there somewhere.

I am looking for the:
2001 Mini introduced in USA
2003 Fist year of S model with a supercharger or a turbo
2005 Operation of convertable top updated to fully automatic and sport model includes DSC ...........

You get the idea...............

I just want to make sure I dont miss something by buying say, an 07 and then find out later that had I bought an 08, it would have had ??????? or if I had held out for one with the sport package it would have ????????

There seems to be plenty of them for sale so I am just trying to may an informed choice and narrow down the choices in an intellegent mannor.

Please educate me!

THe first gens S use a SUPERCHARGER, Convertibles up to 08 use the same S/C
Hardtops in 07+ use a TURBO , 08+S verts went to the Turbo
07 hardtops and the 08 verts was the new body style and had interior/Exterior changes

Motors had changes as well with the second gen

Also the Clubman came onboard with larger wheelbase , suicide third door and barn doors in the rear

Thank you Bad Venge for a first lesson in this quest. I am hoping for a bit more detail though.

Based on your first lesson though I feel I can narrow down my search to a 2006 or 2007 "S" convertible with 6 spd.
The 08 and 09 seem to be a budget buster at over $20K. I would like to stay closer to $15K and I drove an 07 and it had plenty of juice.
So, in an 06 or 07 Supercharged Convertible, what options were available?
any changes at all between 06 and 07?

How can I tell if the one I am looking at has a sport package?

Is a JCW package just cosmetic or does it have performance upgrades over the "S"?

the 06/07/08 verts were hold overs they didn't change anything as they were redesigning the verts to be the second gen body style.

There was limited things
cold weather package (heated seats/heated washers /and spray headlights)
harmon kardon stereo,
disc changer
convienance package blue tooth/garage opener ect
sport package (upgraded seats ect )
HID headlights
stripe kit
JCW package is performance and handling and brakes as well as exterior/interior bits
