Default Gen 3 Motor Mounts Failing Early - Potential Class Action?

Recently had a motor mount crack and fail on my 2019 cooper, in under 20k miles. A potentially hazardous issue too, given it can cause other components to shake loose, causing you to loose power while driving. Unfortunately, this happened just months after my warranty ended so I had to eat the cost.

I've been contacting legal firms about this matter as a apparently mini has a replacement part that resolves this issue, yet they've not recalled the faulty one. From what I'm reading online this seems to be an incredible common issue on minis of this gen, far more common than other manufacturer's cars. Some advice I've received is that I'm unlikely to get a firm's attention without a number of people with the same issue willing to sign that they have the same complaint.

Please comment below if you've had mini motor mount issues on your mini or know somebody that has. Include the year of the car, as well as miles at which the mount(s) failed and any other comments (was there other damage or injury). Let's get our money back.

So your first reaction to an off-warranty repair is to contact legal firms............. ? Sounds extreme to me.

Default Motor mount failure, 2019 Cooper 23,000 miles

i’m having the same problem. Also the dealership is denying any kind of accountability. They’re trying to tell me that when my car came in for service over a year ago that they told me and that I declined to have it repaired. that’s a blatant lie. Furthermore my car was in at the dealership for repairs 60 days ago and it was there for a month and they didn’t tell me about it.
I’m beside myself with the lies and manipulation of the Mini Cooper dealership. I’m paying for an extended warranty. They say it’s not covered under the warranty. My car is 2019 with 68K miles with this issue. They quoted me $1500 at the Mini dealership to fix. Should be a recall :-/

I have a 2017 Clubman. Mine went out not once, but twice. I had it replaced in Nov. 2021 at 65 k miles and recently at 115k miles. I’m beyond disgusted that this could happen. The first time it was replaced, I had it done at the dealership. I now have a reliable and honest mechanic. What can we do to file a complaint against BMW? I have all receipts to prove!!

My 2017 Cooper is literally having a motor mount replaced as I type this. I couldn't believe it would be bad on a car with only 34,000 miles so I started doing some Google searches and found this thread. Clearly I'm not alone in dealing with this problem and thinking it's outrageous. I expressed my concern with the manager and basically got a lot of nonsense that the bushing can break down due to use and weather, e.g. exposure to cold and heat. That would make sense if the car had 80,000 miles and was 15 years old, but ridiculous for a 7yo car with very low miles that is garage kept.

Any word on the class action lawsuit? I've been concerned about mine for a while as I have visually checked and my upper engine mount is sagging and probably has already leaked its oil.

hello, i just discovered that i have a crack/leak in the passenger motor mount of my 2019 mini as well. The car has approximately 46k miles. I was quoted more than $1100 to fix. My warranty expired a few years ago, so i need to pay… if i there will be a class action lawsuit, i would be interested.

Default Gen 3 Motor Mount Failing

My low mileage 2014 Mini Hardtop S F56 upper engine mount started leaking at 21K. The 10 year old (now at 22K) is getting the mount replaced by dealer $1500. The dealer said it's probably the years, not the miles, that caused it to deteriorate and leak.
