Looking around for a used Clubman or Countryman
I've only been looking online, so far. From what I've read in other places, I think what I want is a non-S, automatic, front wheel drive, probably in the 2014-2017 year range. I want to keep it under $10,000, if I can.
I'm not sure about the year range. I've read that 3rd gen Minis are the most reliable, (brand new ones might be more so, but I can't afford those) but the years of 3rd gen aren't the same across all models. So there might be Clubman or Countryman years that are better, even though they aren't technically 3rd gen. I can drive a stick, and like them, but I have some physical issues that make an automatic a better choice for me. I do my own maintenance and a lot of my own repairs, so how easy/hard they are to work on is important. I don't want an S because it looks like the supercharger gets in the way a lot, when it comes to repairs. I'm not wanting to hot rod it, so basic is fine. My son & his wife have a 2011 hardtop, non-S, he says it's fun to drive, got plenty of zip. They love it. I want to keep it as basic as I can, without going back into 2nd or 1st gen. I want something newer than that, like something less than 15 years old. Anyone have any advice or suggestions for me? What to look for, what to avoid? Thanks in advance for any info! |
Huh. There doesn't seem to be much activity here. Ran into the same on another Mini forum.
