Manufacturing Locations
 

I see that the earlier year makes of the MINI are made in Germany, but the later models are made in Oxford, England.

When is the cut off date between manufacturing locations, and is there any difference in quality between the two?

Where did you see that? As far as I know they've all been made in Oxford. Except the GP which was made in Italy.

When I've done several CarFax searches on used MINIs from 2002-4 era, they have stated country of origin as being made in Germany. Later models, 2006-7 era, state they're made in Oxford, England. I was wondering when they switched. Also I've seen the VIN plate pictured in several ads. They show all the wording in German.

Well, they're made by BMW but they're all made in England as far as I know.

My Mini S was made by Bayrische Motoren Werke AG in August of 2005.

I'd bet that's German for BMW.;)

I looked at Mini's when they first came out in '02, and they were made in England then.
