What is the "Lim" button for?

What is the "Lim" button for? On the left side of the steering wheel, as part of the cruise control device, there are five buttons, one in each direction and a center Set button. All of the buttons work as I would expect other than the right hand button marked "Lim". The owner's manual wasn't any help in figuring out how to use this button or how it functions. I am hoping some Mini owners here can help me out.

I found this on google.

It prevents you from accelerating above a certain speed. If you set a speed push lim and you find you cannot go past the speed when you attempt to accelerate. It stops you from accidentally speeding, if you take your foot off the accelerator you slow down, in cruise however you continue at a constant speed.
