Hello everyone from a newb. As I understand it, the first generation cars are 2002 to mid-2006, and the second generation from mid-2006 to present. How can I find out when the change occurred, build date?, VIN number? My girlfriend is looking at getting an 06', but wants to get a second series for sure. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you check the Wiki.org and also if it's an S and is Supercharge then is a first gen. Turbo is place on second gen.

 

Easiest way to tell is the radio
radio built into the speedo= 2nd gen
radio under the speedo= first gen
