2002 cooper auto problem
 

hi my girlfriend has just bought a 2002 auto 1.6 cooper but the problem sems to be on starting in the mornings it revs just on 1200rpm but when you put it into drive it goes in with a thud once warm revs below 1000rpm on tick over and is not too bad going into gear only done 32000 miles ,any ideas? any help will be appreciated.......alan

It's fine... the car will run faster when it's cold to get everything warmed up but once it's warm the engine runs slower.

thanks for the reply i agree that when the engine is warm it runs fine,but what i was concerned about was the fact that when you put it into drive it jolts in.and wondered if there was any solution to that again many thanks great site............alan

The car is fine just give it time to warm up or garage it.
