2008 Cooper S making funny noise

My wifes car is making a grinding noise at around 2500 rpm's under throttle could someone please help me trouble shoot this :D

Can you make a sound clip? Is it an auto of manual? Only at 2.5K? all gears? or only one? Could be a syncro if MT, could be a lot of things need more info. Try holding a 2.5K in 1-6
