2011 Cooper S Fuse Box Replacement Question

Good afternoon.

I have a 2011 MINI Cooper S with a sunroof. The rubber hose that connects to the sunroof drain and runs down the door frame and out by the front wheel, disconnected. As a result, after each rain storm, water was running inside the car and accumulated in the front passenger foot well. Located on the side of that foot well is the fuse box panel/module. It took a few rain storms before I realized what was going on. Unfortunately some of the pins for the harness connections corroded, and the car would no longer start. So... I thought I could fix it on my own. I purchased a used fuse box for $99, and swapped it out. The car starts and runs perfectly, however, every single warning light is on and the gas gauge doesn't work. I thought I would be able to reset on my own, but have not been able to do so. I contacted my service department, and they said that each fuse box panel/module is programmed for a specific car, and therefore cannot be reused. I'm now here on this forum looking for information and opinions. I'm a little confused as to why used fuse boxes are so readily available, if they can't be reused without issue.

Thank you.

And yes, I did reconnect the drain hose, and clamped it on.
