Default 2014 Mini Convertible R57 convertible top problems

I have a 2014 Mini Convertible S.

The convertible top was down when the FOB died and I had to use the manual process to raise the top.
Once I got a new FOB, I went to reverse the procedure....

One of manual steps is to unscrew/loosen the brass screw in the back/left of the trunk. I assuming that was the hydraulic pump.

When I was reversing the steps, I assumed I needed to tighten the screw...which I tried to do..but, since it was a brass screw and the angle was not ideal...I mostly stripped the top of the screw.

The top won't go down...complaining that top is not locked.

The Mini dealership is worthless and not proving any answers other than replacing the entire top and all of the pumps.

Surely, there is a workaround/shade-tree mechanic way of solving this.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Default 2013 Highgate S convertible

Hi,
I have hydraulic fluid leaking slowly from my top on the passenger side where it latches to the top of the a piller. Not sure where it's coming from. I think cables move the front part of the top forward and backwards... I going to check the hydraulic pump in the back and check the fluid level.
Any ideas??
Thanks

Th hydraulics are in the rear, they are not in the cables in the front.

Thats grease that someone lubed the guides or cable.

I noticed this on my 2013 R57 yesterday, it definitely looks like hydraulic fluid to me, I haven't investigated yet, what was it on yours ?
