Hi just looking for some help ...my battery light came on yesterday but the car ran for another hour after i came on with no problems. ...today when i first started it light was out after about 10 min of driveing it came back on .....and another 5 min later power steering was gone ....any ideas to wether it is the alternator that is the issue .....when the car is running i can disconect the battery and it will keep on running ....so that what has me confused i dont want to chang the alternator if thats not the problem is there any other way to test it ...

Have you tested the battery? How long have you had this battery in the car?

As it turns out it was not the alternator or the battery ..but the 3 gallons of water in the drivers floor pan ...one of the plugs under the fuse panel was coroded up and setting of lights on the dash ....looks like i need new door seals ....
