Break replacement

I was at a BMW service center. I over heard a full break job pads and rotors on a MINI is over $1200 US . That is crazy . It was off warranty . Does anyone know if my breaks are under warranty for 4 years or 50 K miles ?

RE: Break replacement

I feel your pain. Here's the problem, your warranty goes to 50,000 and that is usually when the brakes are due. It is determined by the service indicator (usually mileage) which for me ended up at 52,000 (2000 past warranty). I went down and bought Raybestos pads and rotors. The rotors were stamped "made in Italy" so I knew they weren't a cheap chinese knock-offs. The rotors and pads ran me about $340. It took me almost 3 hours to do all four.If you let your brakes wear into the pad sensors (one on the front left and one on the rear right brakes) you will have to replace those also. They are about $30 each.
I think that the $1200 service includes more than just a brake replacement, but it was more than I wanted to spend.
