Creaking noises
 

Anybody experience any creaking noises coming from their steering wheel when you make a u turn?

My 02 has some that only happen when I turn the wheel a lot, not when I'm changing lanes.


I heard from some other forum that it was a design defect and Mini would not fix it.

has anybody else heard of this or have this creaking coming from their steering wheel?

I found this looking around the net for an answer to my noise. Some people have gone as far as replacing the steering column but it's not needed as long as you don't have play in your shaft.

I'm going to do the lubrication on mine and see if it clears it up.

I have no play and it only sounds like the nylon bushing is dry and creaky.
