Cruise Control Problem

I just got a 2005 Cooper S. Love it. I tried the cruise control before I bought it and it worked just fine. A couple of days later tried it again and the light just flashes two times then goes off. It won't set. Any help here?

normally flashing is a brake switch not making rither the e brake or the pedal but it flashes constantly not just twice
