Dead driver's side window
I drive a '04 cooper S. My driver's side window motor may have died (switch on control panel does not work window and all I hear is a clickin "hum" when I try to operate the window), making my door impossible to close fully since the window does not shift down when it opens.*
*Note: Recall that since there is not frame around the entire window, the windows automatically shift down when the door is opened, and shift back up when the door is closed to create a suction and ensure that no air is being lost through the seal. Thus, my window does not shift down and the door cannot be closed completely. Does anyone know if the door panel can be opened to expose the wiring and motor for the window? Is this a problem I can fix on my own, or must I take it to the MINI dealership in order to fix? Thanks for your help and time! Regards, Vik |
try hitting the door panel right above the speaker ... I've seen that loosen up a stuck motor...

Haha to be honest, I was a little skeptical of your advice at first; however, it actually worked! Thanks for your help!

I tried it and it worked as well

That was easy
Thanks for the tip. I had to smack it pretty hard a few times but it did eventually free up the window motor. Saved me a 350 mile round trip to my Mini dealer and the cost of a service call. Thanks again.
