Engine Limp mode
This has happened twice in the last year and a half; My Engine light comes on and my 2007 Mini Cooper S and it goes into Limp Mode. It has only happened at start up when it's cold and below freezing here. The last time this happened, I waited until it got above freezing @ 36 Deg. Fahrenheit and it was out of Limp Mode. I had my garage do a diagnostics and they came up with 3 codes. 2B32 Throttle Valve- control range, 2B2B Throttle Valve- position monitoring and 2B31 Throttle Valve- throttle valve control range. My garage said that something probably froze and then thawed. My question is how can this be happening and what can I do to prevent this?

Same thing happened to ours when we first got it a couple years ago. Took to shop, they said the throttle body was coated with carbon, and soaked it for a week and still couldn't get it clean. We said just replace it! No further problems with THAT but Mini's are known to have issues with carbon buildup. I'm not a mechanic just sharing my experience with ours. abs65 |
