Default English or German

Getting mixed responses from Mini dealers....
Does the Mini have a German engine , BMW parts, etc. Or, does it have an English engine , etc.
I guess I could ask the question this way: Is the Mini a German car with the English mystique ; or, is it an English car that is owned by BMW????

I personally think it's an English car owned and powered by BMW since 1994 when it acquired the Austin Rover Group.

The new MINI is a German car, assembled in England. Most of the parts say, "Made in Germany", "BMW" and then the part number.

The window sticker from my 2013 Clubman says:

PARTS CONTENT INFORMATION
US/Canadian Parts Content: 5%
Major Source of Foreign Parts Content:
Germany: 25%
United Kingdom: 20%

Note: Parts content does not include final assembly, distribution, or other non-parts costs.

Final Assembly Point: Oxford, United Kingdom

Country of Origin:
Engine: Germany
Transmission: Germany

The Motor and Tranny are German, which might be considered its heart and soul. Either way, a higher percentage of its parts are from Germany, so I say it's more German than British.
