evap error codes
 

My lady has a 2008 Cooper S. Check engine light is on.
Codes are
P2418-evaporative emmission system switching valve control citcuit open
P1447-evaporative emission control system purge flow monitor

How can I check the gas cap (as they can be problematic)
Or does this sound more like a sensor or the breather?
I didn't see any sort of purge flow monitor or switching valve in the parts breakdown.

Sounds like a breather/ventilation issue, check your lines. Have you tried resetting the light to see if the same codes reappear?

Yes. I used a handheld scantool and reset it. The check engine light went off an stayed off for the ten minutes it was idling. It came right back on at the next restart. I haven't rescanned to see if it's the same codes or not....but I'm pretty sure they will ...
