Fuel in Engine oil
 

Hi
I have a R56 2009 1.6 petrol cooper. The engine has started to misfire and struggles to idle. Checking the engine oil there is a distinct smell of fuel. Has anyone had experience of this or could point me in the right direction to troubleshoot. Car does frequent very short trips so I was thinking something in the fuel injection system got gummed up, hopefully nothing more terminal.
Any pointers would be appreciated.
